Yes, we’ll even have prizes for the Saturday racing, as well as other achievements. Some will be serious, some not so much….

Sunday Lunch at the Sailing Center-
Starting at 11:30am we’ll be offering subs and snacks at the center. Let us know if you’ll be joining us please. Followed by…..

The First Annual C of C Team Race Championship-
At 12:30pm on Sunday, the “band” will be brought back together!
The 2012 College Team Race Championship winning team will be primed and ready to race. Put together YOUR team and c’mon out to do some team racing against the team that made us all so proud last spring in Austin.

The team racing will be a great, and fun, way to finish off the weekend. We’ll finish it all up by 3pm.

As always please let us know what questions you may have. And PLEASE let us know if you’re planning on coming!

Also, we’d really appreciate it if you can email us ( ) any photos you may have from your C of C sailing days- they will make a great addition to our slideshow!

We truly hope you come join us! We want to be sure we’ll all enjoy plenty of racing, plenty of socializing and have plenty of fun with time for all of the above!

Here’s the plan!
3 division regatta- sailed in 420’s, our new FJ’s and J/22’s. Everyone can sail!

The C of C team can help provide crews for those who just want to come and steer. The team can also provide skippers to help fill open slots if we don’t have enough alum to fill both 420/FJ divisions. Though the date falls during exams we are told that this would be an excellent diversion and the team would  love to be involved.

The J/22 division could be family members only (we want to encourage and accommodate families for the event), no spinnakers, all fun.

We’ll have a contingency plan in case of inclement weather.

Speaking of families, we will organize babysitters so kids of all ages could be brought to the event. We could have sitters on deck for the daytime racing, and more important, evening time festivities-even late (very) into the evening. Let us know your needs if you’d like to bring your kids.

C of C Sailing Update. SAISA/MAISA Regatta.

The College of Charleston Sailing Team is currently in 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th at the SAISA/MAISA Regatta after day 1 of racing. 12 races were completed today in great conditions out in beautiful Charleston Harbor.

“It was another beautiful day in Charleston as sailors were greeted by clear skies and temperatures in the 60s. Racing began on Crab Bank at 10:30 after a short postponement onshore due to several no shows. Four races in each division were completed using W4s with an offset and a gate before a lunch break was taken. The fleet of 20 boats rode the ebb tide back to Crab Bank where 8 more races were sailed using modified gold cups and W4s. Two protests were filed and will be heard in the morning.” -Coach Mitch
Check out the score summary here:

The College of Charleston Sailing Team finished an impressive FIRST, SECOND, FOURTH, and FIFTH overall at the SAISA/MAISA Regatta this weekend in Charleston, SC.

20 races were sailed in beautiful conditions, typical of Charleston Harbor as Cougar sailors dominated the series.

“Sunday brought warmer temperatures and competitors overflowing with enthusiasm after receiving an extra hour of sleep. Two protests from Saturday were heard resulting in a DSQ for Georgia Tech. Racing began on Crab bank using W4s in a light southwesterly breeze and weakening flood tide. The third B division race was abandoned upon the arrival of a sea breeze. The full rotation was completed thereafter using Course 5, a modified gold cup, in a substandard ebb tide and southerly breeze ranging from 6-8 kts. Two more protests were filed resulting in a DSQ for CofC 2. Thank you to Ned Goss, Allison Jolly, and John Pearce for hearing protests and the team of Cougars for assisting in race management. Congratulations to the College of Charleston for winning the 2012 SAISA/MAISA.” – Coach Mitch

Congratulations to all 4 Cougar teams on sailing an impressive event against the best sailors in both the SAISA and MAISA conferences.
