The top-ranked College of Charleston coed sailing team will play host to the two-day Bob Bavier Team Race regatta, that starts this morning, at the J. Stewart Walker Sailing Complex in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
The Cougars will have three teams racing in 420’s this weekend – team one: senior All-American Mac Mace (Newport Beach, Calif.), senior All-American Ben Spector (Santa Clarita, Calif.) and senior Chris Banholzer (Hartland, Wis.), team two: senior Cory DeCollibus (Duxbury, Mass.), sophomore Ali Blumenthal (Bellport, N.Y.) and freshman Seppie McAdams (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) and team three: senior Sarah Somes (Grosse Pointe Park, Mich.), senior Jeff Aschieris (Newport Beach, Calif.) and senior Brooks Clark (Newport Beach, Calif.).
For fans interested in supporting the Cougars and attending this weekend’s home regatta, the best place to spectate is the outside wall of the marina at the Walker Sailing Complex. Racing begins at approximately 10 a.m. (ET) and will take place right on the Cooper River by the marina in Charleston Harbor.

The College of Charleston Sailing Team ended the weekend with a strong THIRD place finish at the Bob Bavier Team Race Regatta.
The Cougars sailed against a tough fleet, and ended up with 8 wins and 4 losses to secure third place overall on the podium.
The event field consisted of some of the best sailing teams in the country: Georgetown, St. Mary’s College of Maryland, the U.S. Naval Academy, Michigan, Yale, Stanford, Eckerd College, South Florida, and Miami (Fla.).
