It’s a big weekend for the College of Charleston Sailing Team, as we’ll be looking to qualify for Nationals!
Your defending Coed National Champions are currently ranked #5 in the nation, and will look to qualify for a berth at nationals at this weekend’s SAISA Spring Championship hosted by Jacksonville University.
Sailing for the Cougars in A-Division will be sophomore skipper Jake Reynolds with junior All-American crew Ali Blumenthal and sophomore crew Beka Schiff. B-Division will be skippered by sophomore Ryan Davidson with sophomore crew Emily Stuart and senior crew Roy Shaw.
The Cougars have already qualified for the Women’s National Semifinals and the Team Race Nationals to be held at the end of May and would like to add another berth to nationals in the coed event to defend their title!
With today’s second place finish at the SAISA Spring Championship, the College of Charleston Sailing Team has secured a berth at the Coed National Championship Semifinals!
The Cougars sailed a consistent two day series in Jacksonville to give them a well-respected second place overall finish (nearly 20pts in front of third). The C of C team scored just 43pts through 8 races in the two-division event.
With this performance, our C of C Cougars have now qualified for all 3 disciplines at the 2014 edition of the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Nationals- the Women’s, Team Race, and Co-ed events.
National Championship events are set to be sailed at the end of May in Annapolis, MD.
