The coed Cougars are in a close second, while the Lady Cougars are in forth overall after day 1 of racing at the South Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association Open!
9 races into the home-hosted season opener, the two Cougar teams are well into the top 5 after a solid day of racing in near-perfect conditions out on Charleston Harbor.
Both Charleston squads are eager to get back on the water tomorrow, as they look to continue their climb on the scoresheet before the conclusion of this 2 day event.
The two Cougar teams are up against 15 other top teams from the South Atlantic region.
After a long day with no breeze here in Charleston, the scoresheet will remain unchanged for the home-hosted SAISA Open.
The coed Cougars will take second overall, while our Ladies take fourth at the first event of the Fall 2014 season.
“Despite the light breeze, strong current, and postponements, the SAISA Open turned out to be a great event. Our freshmen did a good job achieving a 2nd place in their first collegiate regatta, and we had a very strong women’s team as well!”– Junior Skipper Sarah Mackey (A-division, Lady Cougars)
Opening the Fall season with a solid performance, the Cougars will now be focused on next weekend where we expect to have four teams on the road in competition!
