Parents Weekend 2016: Feb 5-7

Dear College of Charleston Sailing Team Parents,

On behalf of Coaches Ward, Mitch, Ned and our entire sailing program staff; we would like to invite you to the College of Charleston Sailing Team Parents Weekend 2016!

It’s nearly that time again to enjoy a great weekend of sailing and socializing with your kids and fellow parents.

We will be sending out more information over the coming weeks regarding the finalized agenda, the weekend schedule and suggested places to stay- but for now, we wanted to be sure you had the date!

As usual, we will continue to put together a list of hotels that will be offering special rates and will send that off as soon as we have all the commitments. So far we already have the Charleston Harbor Resort (where the sailing center is located) locked in at $99/night.

We’ll start the weekend on Friday night with an informal meet and greet at the new & local Carolina Ale House on Calhoun and King Streets. Saturday morning we’ll offer tours of our campus facilities downtown and then meet at the sailing center to show you all our new boats and updates for the 2016 season. There’s always the option to take part in some fun sailing (perhaps a little racing?) that both parents and team members will enjoy thanks to our new Z420’s, our new J/22’s, and even the offshore boats. And of course, we will have the famed Charleston Harbor tours on the Charleston Explorer as in the past.

Additionally, we have a special block of tickets for the basketball game at greatly reduced rates. Directly after the game we’ll host a party downtown before dinner so you can enjoy a night on the town with your kids.

Sunday we’ll have a brunch at the Resort followed by open sailing for those who want one more shot at the picturesque Charleston Harbor.

The goal is to offer a low key, laid back opportunity for you all to have a great time meeting one another and us coaches, enjoy wonderful Charleston, plus have some nice quality time with your kids.

The entire team is off to a great start this Fall 2015 season! Our practices and workouts have been productive, as well as fun, and the team’s disciplined efforts are shown by their great results so far… We’re proud that the dinghy team is still one of the best in the nation after a number of impressive results to open the season, and our Offshore team has won a number of prestigious events here in our local big boat regattas.

We truly look forward to seeing all you again who have joined us in years’ past, plus meeting our new freshmen parents. Welcome to our family!

Please feel free to contact us with any questions. But again, we’ll be sending more info out in the very near future.

Go Cougars!
