Club Sailing Team

Club Team Sp14

The College of Charleston Club Sailing Team serves as a valuable resource for those sailors not quite ready for the Varsity team, yet wanting to improve through time on the water with hopes of trying out for the Varsity team in the future. The Club team is also beneficial for those sailors simply looking to get out on the water, sail, have fun, and improve their skills. Even if your sailing experience is minimal we would love to have you come out!

The Club Sailing Team is currently coached by two-time All American and former College of Charleston Varsity Sailing Team Captain, Samuel Stokes. Sam is an incredible sailor and a wonderful asset to the program. He is very dedicated to the entire team and helping all of the members of the club to improve their skills and to have fun on the water.

The Club team practices twice a week, currently on Mondays and Fridays, in 420s and FJs. The team focuses on improving various skills, while still maintaining a fun atmosphere.

A typical practice consists of various drills (many of which are used by the Varsity team) as well as a series of short races.

With being a member of the Club team, comes many additional benefits. Club Sailors are always “in the loop”when it comes to finding opportunities to sail local events within the community. Additionally, you will have access to the entire CofC fleet of boats with the ability to take them out whenever you wish (as long as the sailing center is open), and you become a part of a great group of sailors who enjoying nothing more than sailing and having fun.

Feel free to contact us (CofC Club Team Captains) with any additional questions you may have, or to find out how you can join the College of Charleston Club Sailing Team.
