Club Sailing Team

Club Team GroupThe College of Charleston Club Sailing Team was first introduced during the Fall 2011 Semester, as an alternative to the C of C Varsity Team. The Club team serves as a valuable resource for those sailors not quite up to the skill level demanded by the Varsity team, yet wanting to improve through time on the water and coached practices with hopes of trying out for the Varsity team in the future. The Club team is also beneficial for those sailors simply looking to get out on the water, sail, have fun, and improve their skills.

The Club Sailing Team is coached by well known, expert sailor, Greg Fisher and holds practice sessions once per week in 420′s, FJ’s, and J22′s. The team focuses on improving various skills, while still maintaining a fun atmosphere. A typical practice consists of various drills (many of which are used by the Varisty team) as well as a series of short races. Greg is always giving tips, suggestions, and hints to everyone on the water.

With being a member of the Club team, comes many additional benefits. Club Sailors are always ‘in the loop’ when it comes to finding opportunities to sail local events within the community, you will have access to the entire C of C fleet of boats and the ability to take them out whenever you wish (as long as the sailing center is open), and you become a part of a great group of sailors who enjoying nothing more than sailing and having fun.

Feel free to contact myself (C of C Club Team Captain) with any additional questions you may have, or to find out how you can join the College of Charleston Club Sailing Team.
