The College of Charleston sailing team returns to action this weekend at the SAISA Spring Coed Dinghy Championships hosted by Eckerd College and South Florida in St. Petersburg, Fla.

CofC will compete for the conference championship title in this weekend’s regatta against crews from Clemson, Eckerd College, Embry-Riddle, Florida, Georgia Tech, Jacksonville, Miami (Fla.), NC State, Rollins College, UNC Wilmington and USF.

Senior Chris Banholzer (Hartland, Wis.) will skipper A-Division along with sophomore crew Morgan Buckley (Yonkers, N.Y.) and senior crew Brooks Clark (Newport Beach, Calif.), while freshman all-star Jake Reynolds (San Diego, Calif.) skippers B-Division with freshman crew Emily Stuart (Riverside, R.I.).

“It’s a really big event for us this weekend,” CofC Head Coach Ward Cromwell said. “It determines our scheduling for the fall as well as qualifying for the national semifinals in a couple of weeks in Virginia. The forecast is light for this weekend’s regatta. I’m looking forward for our team to travel to districts to experience the same venue for nationals that we will hopefully see later in the spring.”
