Kelly was born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago. She sailed on the national team and competed at the Central American and Caribbean Games in both 2014 and 2018, and was also the first female sailor to represent Trinidad at the Pan American Games in 2015 and 2019. Kelly came to the College of Charleston to pursue a degree in Exercise Science. While being a member of the sailing team sailing she participated at four Women's Single Handed Nationals and 2 Women's National Championships.
