Sailing Association

Dear Future Sailing Association Member,

Thank you for your interest in membership at the College of Charleston Sailing Association. Membership into the Sailing Association allows your restricted use of the College’s fleets of 10 J/22s, 8 Lasers, 18 FJs, or 18 z420 Dinghies. Sailing privileges are accorded through sailing ability assessed by a competency test. Our staff at the Sailing Complex administers that test.

Yearly membership fees range from $315 for full time students at the College to $600 for the general community (monthly, half year, and family discount memberships are also available). There is a fee of $5 per guest per sail for members that wish to bring along non-members, and there is a $100.00 grounding fee. Active military and seniors (over 65) qualify for a 10% discount on all membership types; use promotion code SMFS16 when completing online checkout via marketplace.

No other fees are charged to members for daily sailing.

There are several special activities offered to the membership yearly. You will be advised of these events through periodic newsletters. We also have an online forum and Facebook fan page for you to communicate with other members about sailing opportunities, etc. and so that you can stay updated with what’s going on.

Again, thank you for your interest in the College of Charleston Sailing Association. If you should have any questions, please call me at (843) 953-8252 or Ned Goss at (843) 216-8450.

Good Sailing,
Kevin Jewett, Director of Sailing
